Tilak Varma Appointed Captain of India A for Tri-Nation Series in Sri Lanka
The BCCI announced the India A squad for the Sri Lanka tri-nation series, appointing Tilak Varma as captain and Riyan Parag as vice-captain. Emerging talents like Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Priyansh Arya feature, highlighting India’s focus on grooming young leaders and providing international exposure in both white-ball and red-ball formats.
The tri-series will feature India A, Sri Lanka A, and Afghanistan A, with all limited-overs matches scheduled to take place in Dambulla. Following the white-ball competition, the tour will include two multi-day matches against Sri Lanka A in Galle.
The squad includes several emerging talents from the domestic and franchise circuits. Notable inclusions are Priyansh Arya and teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag has been appointed vice-captain, signaling the selectors’ emphasis on nurturing young leadership prospects.
Priyansh Arya, who has impressed in recent white-ball tournaments, secures a well-deserved spot alongside Sooryavanshi, one of Indian cricket’s most talked-about young prospects. The selectors have also named wicketkeepers Prabhsimran Singh and Kumar Kushagra.
The bowling department features Anshul Kamboj, recognized for his strong performances, including his remarkable Indian Premier League 2026 campaign. Other prominent squad members include Ayush Badoni, Nishant Sindhu, Harsh Dubey, and Vipraj Nigam.
The BCCI confirmed that the squad for the red-ball portion of the tour, consisting of two multi-day matches in Galle, will be announced separately at a later date.
